LABORATORY PROCEDURES FOR PLANT CELL LINES REFERENCE NO.: PC/1998/2/1 TITLE: GUIDELINES FOR REQUESTING, PROCESSING, CATALOGUING, MAINTENANCE, AND DELIVERY OF PLANT CELL LINES INTRODUCTION The public collection of plant cell lines is continually expanded by the process of accessioning new plant cell lines as far as possible dependent upon available resources. This is usually in response to the application of a depositor or by request of the collection. The plant cell lines pass a preliminary quality check and a further final quality check and authentication before they are included in the public collection and further maintained either by continuous subculturing or long term preservation. Routine quality checks are performed to assure the quality standard of the collection. On request of customers, plant cell lines are recovered and delivered. This document describes the procedures for these purposes. PC/1998/2.1 contains a flow chart showing the general procedures for accessioning of new plant cell lines including preliminary quality check, final quality check and authentication. PROCEDURE 1.
