LABORATORY PROCEDURES FOR MICROORGANISMS

Appendix

M/1998/3.02 Appendix 7

PRESERVATION BOOK

If a new deposit is accepted it should be preserved as quick as possible. In addition, new batches of earlier preserved cultures have to be prepared as a result of low or due to significant loss in viability of the preserved strain. Appropriate strain data are recorded in the Preservation Book or the computer database. Each laboratory responsible for the preservation of microorganisms keeps a separate Preservation Book or is responsible for the entry into the computer database.

An example of a single page of a Preservation Book is shown on page 2. Each page of the book should be numbered serially.
